National Girl Child Day 2023

“Educating girls isn’t just good for the girls, it’s good for all of us. The future of our world is only as bright as the future of our girls.” – Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the US.

Education for girls encompasses more than just getting them into schools. It also involves ensuring that girls are capable of learning and feel secure during their time at school; that they are given the chance to complete all phases of their education, obtaining the abilities and knowledge to compete in the employment market; that they acquire the social-emotional and life skills necessary to navigate and adapt to a changing world; that they make decisions about their own lives; and that they contribute to their communities and the world. The provision of educational opportunities for young women ought to be among the highest strategic development priorities.

Women with higher levels of education tend to have fewer children, marry later in life and have children who are typically in better health if they do become mothers. They also have a generally better understanding of the importance of proper nutrition and receiving appropriate medical care. They have a greater chance of participating in the formal labor market, which leads to higher earnings for them. When brought together, all these factors have the potential to assist in lifting households, communities, and countries out of poverty.

It is essential to each of their individual journeys that they receive an education that places a priority on ethical leadership, active community service, and the exploration of intercultural and intersocietal differences. When the girls teach their abilities and life lessons to their other sisters, friends, and eventually to their own children, they will have the opportunity to serve as positive examples for younger generations. Everyone in the family, as well as entire communities and villages, can profit from the education of just one girl. Girls and women can truly make a difference by contributing to a future that is inclusive, fair, and harmonious for everyone.

Although global advocacy has resulted in some attention being paid to the education of girls, the pressing need of the hour is to take a broader view that takes into consideration the girls’ physical, social, and economic circumstances. Children need to be exposed to gender studies in the classroom so that they can develop a more nuanced understanding of gender roles and a more positive attitude toward femininity and masculinity.

At MWT Global Academy, we believe in empowering our girl children with the best education possible. Girls are the future, and when they are equipped with the capabilities to succeed, they can grow and flourish into the confident and bold women of tomorrow! Let’s raise the bar for women’s education in the country, and work towards a better future.

National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on January 24.  Let’s join hands to create a wonderful future for our lovely girl children!
