Seminar on Indo-Australian Healthcare system

The MWT Institute of Health and Management in conjunction with IHNA, Australia conducted a Seminar on the Indo-Australian Healthcare System on the 12th of September 2013 at the International Hotel , M G Road, Ernakulam, Kerala. The seminar was a grand success and was much acclaimed by all the delegates who attended the day-long event.

This workshop was held to explore the Australian and Indian health care delivery systems, and set out to seek new ways of collaboration between healthcare professionals in the two countries. By exchanging views on ensuring culturally competent patient care, delegates from both countries gained an appreciation and understanding of health care systems and nursing across cultures.

The seminar was formally inaugurated by Mr. Bijo Kunnumpurath, after which Australian healthcare professionals Jacqui Verdon &  Katie Higgs set the ball rolling by speaking on topics such as Nursing in Australia, and the Australian Public and Private Healthcare systems. They gave a brief description of clinical education for nurses in Australia. Mrs. Mini Paul spoke on the History of nursing in India, and described the Indian Healthcare system. She also touched upon the topic of clinical education for nurses in India.

After this there was a short interaction session where delegates from both countries had personal interactions with each other, followed by a formal Valedictory function.

MWT IHM also launched their PD and VET courses after the seminar. These courses offer flexible learning opportunities that are carefully structured to provide continued education
