Why IELTS is required?

If you’re a student who is planning to study overseas, or a professional who wishes to work in an English speaking country, then you will already be aware of the IELTS Exam. One of the most widely accepted English language tests mandated by schools and companies, the IELTS demonstrates that you have a certain level of English proficiency and will be able to work or undertake your studies with competence.

These are some of the advantages of undertaking the IELTS test.

Validate your language capabilities

When you join a study program overseas, the college needs to know that you will be able to understand what is being taught. If your English capabilities are not up to the mark, you may struggle with understanding the subjects and will find it a challenge to do well. Similarly if you are looking for a job overseas, your employers will need to know that you can understand and follow instructions. Workers who make mistakes due to faulty communication can prove disastrous to the business.

Quality control

IELTS questions are designed in keeping with high standards of quality, making this an exam that definitively demonstrates that you have the minimum standards of competency needed to perform well in your role as a student or worker in an English speaking country.

Improve your English language skills

It goes without saying that by preparing for and taking the IELTS test, you´ll learn to apply your English knowledge in everyday common scenarios. You will improve all your different English language skills – speaking, listening, writing and reading and be well prepared to face real life situations with ease.

Consistency in interpretation of the results

IELTS examiners across the world use the 9-band system, making the interpretation of results quite consistent regardless of the country in which you sit for the test. Strict criteria are applied to each test to ensure that the result will accurately reflect your English language capabilities.

Two test options to choose from

There are two versions of the IELTS test, and you can choose the one appropriate to your situation. The IELTS Academic is suitable for students who wish to study abroad for higher education or professional registration, and the IELTS General Training is sufficient for secondary education, work, travel or to emigrate to an English speaking country.

Choice of British English or American

The IELTS covers both British English and American English, making it suitable for use in the US, in the UK or other English-speaking countries such as Australia, Canada or New Zealand. The test is designed to suit different native English accents and uses a real approach to each variant of the English language.

The most widely available test across the world

The IELTS is currently available in over 140 countries across the world.  Each country sets its own requirements for acceptance of IELTS scores. Over 10,000 colleges, professional agencies, immigration authorities, and institutions accept IELTS scores, making this the preferred test of English language capabilities on a global level.
